Entrepreneurship Policy Digest, Kauffman <\/a>Foundation<\/a>, 20 July 2015<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This digest discusses the unique barriers that women entrepreneurs face, particularly availability of mentors, implicit biases against women entrepreneurs, and the additional challenges women face in maintaining work-life balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five policy recommendations are proposed to \u201cpave the way\u201d for entrepreneurial success for women: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Develop and report metrics for entrepreneurship programs and initiatives; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Increase the number of women in entrepreneurship programs; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Increase small business funding to women-owned businesses; <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Celebrate successful women entrepreneurs; and <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Decrease the risk of becoming an entrepreneur through policy initiatives targeting the particular pressures and risks facing women.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
