Kula Foods, founded by Asha Wheeldon, is dedicated to reconnecting people with plant-based Afro-Vegan proteins and sauces.  Asha was inspired to start her entrepreneurial journey when she moved to Vancouver and realized there was a need in the market for Afrocentric food and spices. Driven by the joy of cooking plant-based dishes, Asha established Kula Foods to fill the void, contributing to the cultural elevation one plate at a time.

Discover Save da Sea Foods, founded by Aki Kaltenbach. Save da Sea offers sustainable, plant-based seafood crafted from wholesome ingredients. Aki’s commitment to reducing environmental impact led her to create menu items with sustainable ingredients, launching Save da Sea in 2019.  

Originally intended for the food-service industry, the pivot to the consumer product goods market during the pandemic brought Save da Sea Foods to the refrigerated sections of 500 stores across Canada. Aki’s plant-based seafood mimics the taste and texture of traditional options, empowering consumers to make environmentally conscious choices for a healthier planet.

Baller Food Canada

Introducing Baller Food, a food truck founded by busy mom Kate Ames in Prince George. Faced with daycare closures and a job loss, Kate turned to cooking, giving rise to her unique food truck brand. Baller Food serves a creative menu featuring ball-shaped dishes like meatballs, arancini, and gourmet salads, offering a variety of options, including vegetarian.  

Kate’s culinary skills extend beyond the food truck; she’s the head chef at Birch and Boar Charcuterie and Provisions. Currently booking for 2023 events, Baller Food caters to public and private events and plans to join DoorDash and offer frozen meals at Birch and Boar.

Daley Bread Bakery

Meet Laura Daley, the dedicated owner and baker behind Daley Bread Bakery. With almost 20 years of professional baking experience, Laura’s journey from hobbyist to full-time baker led her to Golden after her previous job was eliminated due to the pandemic. 

Recognizing the absence of quality artisan bread and pastries in the area, Laura seized the opportunity to fill the gap. Since 2020, Daley Bread Bakery has been uniting the local community and businesses with its commitment to providing top-notch artisan bread and pastries.

Aji Gourmet Products 

Location: Surrey. Shop online or in-store here

Dive into the flavorful world of Aji, a family-owned sauce pronounced ‘ah-hee’. This unique recipe was created in Columbia by the Gonzalez family, using the flavours of their culture. When the family moved to British Columbia, they brought this taste of home with them. The turning point came at a party when mom Dyana brought Aji-infused guacamole, which wowed guests. This led to overwhelming demand, inspiring Dyana to turn it into a business.  

Today, Aji’s diverse product range includes sauces, flavoring pouches, and hot sauces from mild to Habanero. They’re sold to customers across BC and Alberta, sharing the warmth and family spirit of Colombian culture.
